When you play European or American roulette, you see that there is no numerical order or proper arrangement of numbers around the wheel.

How Does Betting on the First 12, Second 12, 1-18, or 19-36 compare to Betting on Specific Numbers in Roulette
There are two unique bet types in roulette. One is an outside bet, and the other is an inside bet. You have an outside bet when you bet on the first or second 12. On the other hand, betting on specific numbers in roulette is an inside bet.
Outside bets have a large group of numbers with a higher winning probability. However, the payouts are lower. For instance, if you bet on the first, second, or third 12, the payout ratio is 2:1. Likewise, the payout ratio is 1:1 if you bet on 1 to 18 or 19 to 36.
So, if you bet 1 dollar or euro on the first 12 numbers and win, you may get 2 dollars/euros and your original 1 dollar bet, for a total of 3 dollars.
On the other hand, if you bet 1 dollar on a specific number, which is an inside bet, and you win, you will get 35 dollars plus your original 1 dollar bet. So, the total is 36 dollars.
That’s why the odds of winning are higher in outside bets with smaller payouts, and the winning odds are lower in inside bets with bigger payouts.

The winning odds for red or black in roulette are even.
However, the odds in American roulette are 47.37%, which is slightly lower than the odds of European roulette at 48.65%.
