What Numbers Hit the Most in Roulette

Roulette is a game of chance, and each number has equal probability. So, no number hits more frequently. However, gamblers usually bet on even numbers, such as 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10. Some players bet on the first (1 to 12) and second 12 (13 to 24). Some even bet on 1 to 18 or 19 to 36, odd-even, and red/black. If you want to know the details relevant to numbers that hit the most in roulette, read this post.

Probability of Hitting a Specific Number in Roulette

The type of roulette wheel determines the probability of hitting a specific number. The probability in European roulette is:

On the other hand, the probability in American roulette is:

Remember, European roulette has 37 numbers, and the American version has 38 numbers. For instance, European roulette has 0 to 36 numbers, while American roulette has 0 to 36 and an extra 00 numbers.

The Odds of Hitting an Even Number in Roulette

The odds of hitting an even number in European roulette are:

But in American roulette, the odds are lower:

European and American roulette wheels have 18 even numbers. However, European roulette has 37 outcomes, and the American version has 38 outcomes.

How Does the Layout of the Roulette Wheel Affect the Numbers that Hit Most Often?

What Numbers Hit the Most in Roulette

The layout has nothing to do with numbers that hit most often. It does not affect the randomness of numbers.

Each wheel spin is an independent event. So, the outcome of one spin does not influence or impact the outcome of another. But, the layout may affect your betting strategy.

When you play European or American roulette, you see that there is no numerical order or proper arrangement of numbers around the wheel.

Instead, the numbers have a strategic placement to balance high/low and even/odd numbers across the wheel. So, this strategic arrangement ensures a fair distribution of numbers for players.

For instance, the wheel in European roulette has a unique sequence of numbers – you see that the high numbers (19 to 36) and the low numbers (1 to 18) alternate as much as possible.

Moreover, an extra double zero (00) in American roulette increases the house edge and influences the payouts.

Strategies to Bet on the Numbers that Hit Most Often in Roulette

You can use different strategies, such as:

  • The Martingale Strategy
  • Reverse Martingale
  • The D’ Alembert Strategy
  • The Fibonacci

I will explain these strategies some other time. For now, I am just giving you a quick overview of these strategies for roulette.

Strategy Bet Progression Risk Level

Reverse Martingale (Paroli) Increase after win Medium
D’Alembert Increase after loss, decrease after win Medium

How Does Betting on the First 12, Second 12, 1-18, or 19-36 compare to Betting on Specific Numbers in Roulette

There are two unique bet types in roulette. One is an outside bet, and the other is an inside bet. You have an outside bet when you bet on the first or second 12. On the other hand, betting on specific numbers in roulette is an inside bet.

Outside bets have a large group of numbers with a higher winning probability. However, the payouts are lower. For instance, if you bet on the first, second, or third 12, the payout ratio is 2:1. Likewise, the payout ratio is 1:1 if you bet on 1 to 18 or 19 to 36.

So, if you bet 1 dollar or euro on the first 12 numbers and win, you may get 2 dollars/euros and your original 1 dollar bet, for a total of 3 dollars.

On the other hand, if you bet 1 dollar on a specific number, which is an inside bet, and you win, you will get 35 dollars plus your original 1 dollar bet. So, the total is 36 dollars.

That’s why the odds of winning are higher in outside bets with smaller payouts, and the winning odds are lower in inside bets with bigger payouts.

What are the Odds of Winning on Red or Black

The winning odds for red or black in roulette are even.

However, the odds in American roulette are 47.37%, which is slightly lower than the odds of European roulette at 48.65%.

American roulette has an extra double zero pocket, which is why the odds are slightly lower. Keep in mind the payout for red and black bets is the same. Their ratio is 1:1.
